Education

Stowe School

The school site incorporates Stowe House and its renowned landscaped gardens which accommodate the largest concentration of Grade 1 listed buildings in London.

Reflecting the history of landscape design in England with significant contributions from Vanbrugh, Bridgeman, Kent and 'Capacity' Brown. To compliment the historic setting, the building is finished in Bath stone and zinc. The curved surface of the façade is articulated by a series of projected windows.

The engineering services design was developed in conjunction with the schools team with whom we had worked with on many previous projects. Internal lighting design was key along with passive design to limit summer overheating.

What we delivered

  • Building is finished in Bath stone, zinc and render to match the Main House

  • Restoration of the gardens around the New Boarding House, re-creating the Bridgeman Walk Axis, a lime walk terminating at the site of the now lost 'Temple of Bacchus'
