BTP Consultants are pleased to announce handover of the 'milestone' Ock Building at The Unicorn School, Abingdon.
Working in conjunction with main contractor Wooldridge & Simpson and WWA Architects, the new building will allow the school to double it's current capacity while offering a major step for SEN education in Oxfordshire.
The building will enable the school to support a greater number of neurodiverse learners in a specially designed space.
The school has specialised for more than 30 years in helping children with neurodiversity challenges and the first phase of the works was to convert the former Premier Inn into classrooms.
Work is set to start on Phase 2 (the Beefeater building), which is Grade II listed and will have to be delicately adapted. Once both phases are complete the school will have doubled its pupils from 120 to 240.
Headteacher Alison Woodworth-Sturla:
"We're thrilled to be opening the doors to the next chapter in The Unicorn School's journey. This new building represents years of vision, planning and dedication - and now, it's a reality."
"Doubling our capacity means we can welcome even more neurodiverse learners into a space thoughtfully designed to support their individual needs." It's not just a milestone for our school, but a meaningful step forward for specialist education in Oxfordshire."
