BTP Consultants have been chosen to implement a sustainable retrofit of the Quadrant House, a mixed-use building constructed in the mid-60s in Caterham.
After a variety of tests and surveys, it was concluded that it is a heat-led building which leads to high energy consumption, partly due to poor building fabric. To switch to a cooling led building, a holistic approach was required, including improving the building fabric, installing a centralised VRF heating and cooling system, and promoting LED light fixtures along with photovoltaics.
